About Rukmai

Clearer education decisions, without pretending the system is simple

Rukmai is an independent decision-support product for Indian students and parents, operated by Braavos Infratech LLP.

What we do

We connect courses, entrance exams and institutions, so you can see how one decision leads to the next. Our guides explain the terms that get used without ever being explained — like affiliation, autonomy, deemed-to-be university status, and who actually awards your degree.

How the guides are researched

  1. We start with the real question a student or parent is asking.
  2. We check the terms against primary sources — UGC regulations, official government pages, and institution documents.
  3. We separate the legal facts from opinions about quality, cost or fit — that's a different question.
  4. We write it up in plain language and link the official sources we used.
  5. We revisit pages when the rules change, and check the links and claims from time to time.

What our labels do not mean

A university or college type is not a ranking. Words like “autonomous,” “central,” “private,” “deemed-to-be,” “constituent” and “affiliated” describe legal or organisational facts — not quality. None of them alone tells you whether a programme is recognised, affordable, well taught, or right for you.

Corrections

Education data changes, and official sources can disagree or go out of date. If you spot a mistake, use the feedback option in the Rukmai app and include the official source — we look into it. Nothing here is treated as permanent just because it was checked before.

Independence

Rukmai is not affiliated with UGC, any exam body, university or college. Institution and exam names belong to their own organisations. Always check the latest official notice before making a final decision about admission, recognition or eligibility.
